East Texas track athletes competing in regionals this weekend

Multiple area athletes will compete at the Class 5A Region II Track and Field Championship at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Stadium. Competing for Tyler are Cadarius McMiller, 100 meters; McMiller, Jeremiah Taylor, Elijah Hayward and Artaumas Harrington, 400 relay; Amy Vazquez, 800 meters; Mia Verner, 100 meters; Keiland Garvey, 110 hurdles; and Asya Denmark, discus. Competing for Whitehouse is Natalie Brown, triple jump.

Competing for Marshall are De’Trevyon Goudeau , 400 meters and 800 meters; Dameon Smith Jr. , 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles; and Dameon Smith Jr., Jeremiah McCowan, Aiden Hill and De’Trevyon Goudeau , 1,600 relay.



Competing for Hallsville are Kobe Gaut , high jump; Jacob Vail , 300 hurdles; and Joshua Horne , 200 meters. Palestine will host the Class 2A Region III Track and Field Championship. Area girls top seeds are Big Sandy’s Kimber Rushing, pole vault, 10-0; Linden-Kildare’s Jamiah Birmingham, triple jump, 38-1; Elysian Fields’ Cara Sims , 3,200 meters, 10:55.

11; Linden-Kildare, 800 relay, 1:45.62; and Elysian Fields’ Cara Sims , 1,600 meters, 5:15.86.

Area boys top seeds are Mount Enterprise’s Kaegan Ash, triple jump, 46-6; Harleton’s Noel Fajardo , discus, 157-7; Waskom’s Victor Bravo , 3,200 meters, 10:23.02; Beckville’s Aiden Harris, 110 hurdles, 15.32; Mount Enterprise’s Kaegan Ash, 100 meters, 10.

89; and Frankston, 1,600 relay, 3:26.89. Joaquin’s Max Garvin enters the pole vault with the top height in the nation this season at 17-8.

25. Bullard is hosting the Class 4A Region III Track and Field Championship Friday and Saturday at Panther Stadium. Area boys competitors are Bullard’s Josiah Johnson and Cole Johnson and Palestine’s Isaiah Hill in the pole vault; Rusk’s VanDorian Horn and Adrian Tumblin in long jump; Bullard’s Caden Cummings and Jayke Jones and Palestine’s Julius Walker in high jump; Bullard’s Xzayviier Austin in triple jump; Palestine in 400 relay; Bullard’s Tucker Stainback in 110 hurdles; Palestine’s S’Vioarean Martin in 100 meters; Palestine in 800 relay; Rusk’s Elijah McCown and Chase Hood in 400 meters; Rusk’s Adrian Tumblin and Palestine’s Dreylon Spurlock in 200 meters; and Bullard and Rusk in 1,600 relay.

Area girls competitors are Rusk’s JaNiya Jackson in long jump; Bullard’s Rieze De Kock in pole vault; Palestine’s Kynlee Atterton and Rusk’s Jakaiya Jenkins in discus and shot put; Bullard’s Kali Jo Bannister and Hudsen Walker in high jump; Bullard’s Peyton Childs in 3,200 meters; Bullard’s Kali Jo Bannister and Rusk’s Lizzy Kimbrell in 100 hurdles; Palestine’s Mokijia Day in 100 meters; Palestine in 800 relay; Palestine’s Favour Ojo and Rusk’s Lizzy Kimbrell in 300 hurdles; Bullard’s Peyton Childs in 1,600 meters; and Bullard in 1,600 relay A lot of area athletes will compete in the Class 4A Region II Track and Field Championship at East Texas A&M University in Commerce. Area girls top seeds are Carthage’s JaKayla Teague, high jump, 5-7; Henderson’s Giselle Alejandro, 3,200 meters, 11:29.86; Chapel Hill, 800 relay, 1:40.

13; Gilmer’s Alondria Nelson, 200 meters, 24.99; and Lindale’s Abigail Kelley, 1,600 meters, 5:16.36.

Area boys top seeds are Gilmer’s Lucas Cano, discus, 193-6 and shot put, 58-2; Henderson’s Lane Meador, boys wheelchair shot put; Lindale’s Colter Maya, 400 meters, 46.58; and Lindale’s Chad Ward, Kaden Baze, Nathan Bradford, Colter Maya, 1,600 relay, 3:18.79.

Tyler Legacy and Longview are competing at the Class 6A Region II Track and Field Championship at Waco Midway High School. Competing for Legacy are Maddry East, 1,600 and 3,200 meters; Taylor Woods, high jump; Mason Maldonado, 1,600 meters; JaiShawn Lee, 300 hurdles; and Grady Studinka, pole vault. Competing for Longview are DaNaucia Johnson, 200 meters and 400 meters; N’Kheyli Johnson, 400 meters; N’Kheyli Johnson, Ana Acosta, Sadie Stagner and Da’Naucia Johnson, 1,600 relay; Dkirian Allen, Javante Barnes, Jabarion Wilder and Mason Washington, 400 relay; Allen, Barnes, Wilder and Washington, 800 relay; and Jake Lundy, pole vault.

Whitehouse is hosting the Class 3A Region II meet on Friday and Saturday. The top two finishers in each event qualify for the UIL Track and Field State Meet May 1-3 at Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium in Austin.
