RJ Felton has spent the last four years helping East Carolina University's men's basketball program reach new heights. Now he has his sights set on doing the same at the professional level. Felton, an Aiken High graduate who started his high school career at North Augusta, announced April 3 that he is declaring for June's NBA Draft.

"First, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the sport that I love dearly," Felton wrote in an announcement posted to his Instagram account. "I want to thank Coach George Wright-Easy and Coach Dooley for recruiting me and introducing ECU to me. I want to thank Coach Schwartz and the staff for developing me as player, a person, and as a professional.

I also want to thank the ECU fans and Minges Maniacs for the support and love throughout my 4 years. It has been a long voyage, and I am grateful for the experiences and the fun memories." Felton was a unanimous first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection this past season, following up third-team recognition as a junior, after leading the Pirates to a program-record 19 regular-season wins and their first winning season since 2012-13.

His historic ECU career ends with his name all over the program record books. The senior guard scored 1,774 points, which ranks third in program history and second during the Pirates' time in Division 1, and he ranks fifth on the AAC's all-time scoring list. He scored 620 points this season, the fourth-best total in program history, and his 18.

8 points per game rank eighth. He's the second Pirate to make 200 or more field goals in multiple seasons, and he ranks second with 630 career field goals made. He made 235 3-pointers in his career, which ranks third at ECU.

He had five games of 30 or more points, also ranking third. He's tied for second in games played with 124, scoring in double figures in 87 of them, and he's second in minutes played with 3,752. He's one of only six Pirates to start 100 or more games in a career.

He's tied for fifth with 141 career steals. Felton was a three-time Aiken Standard Player of the Year during his high school career, during which he earned All-State honors and Region Player of the Year recognition three times. He was a Carolinas Classic All-Star selection, and he was named MVP of four different tournaments.
