The Earls of Ormond, Kilkenny’s newest music ensemble, presents its inaugural concert at 4pm on Sunday, November in the Parade Tower of Kilkenny Castle. The concert is part of Music in Kilkenny’s 2024 Autumn series . In this concert they will explore music from the 16th and 17th centuries which may have formed part of the musical tapestry in the lives of the Butler of Ormond.
Founded by three internationally-renowned Kilkenny based musicians Siobhán Armstrong (harps), Laoise O’Brien (recorders) and Malcolm Proud (chamber organ) The Earls of Ormond will explore the music that would have provided entertainment for the Butler family and their guests in Kilkenny Castle. Also taking part are Sarah Groser and Norah O’Leary (viols) and Caoimhe de Paor (recorders). Book online for this special event at: www.
