Eamonn Holmes opened up about his ongoing health struggle on GB News this morning, revealing that he feels incapacitated after years of chronic pain and multiple surgeries. While speaking to Gladiator star Montell Douglas , the broadcasting veteran joked that even watching Countryfile on a Sunday is a "huge exercise" for him due to his limited mobility. Eamonn has struggled with significant health issues over the years, and has faced various treatments such as a double hip replacement in 2016 and surgery for a slipped disc in 2022.
These medical procedures coupled with back pain have left him reliant on a wheelchair and other walking aids. While discussing the physically challenging BBC gameshow Gladiators with Montell, Eamonn asked what role she thinks the show plays in inspiring people to be more active and if people with mobility challenges like him can tap into that too. He admitted: "I'm in a position where I can't do a lot of things.
I regard watching Countryfile on a Sunday as a huge exercise for me. What if you're in a position where you can't do anything?" His honesty moved Montell, who responded: "I feel very sad about that." Eamonn simply replied: "It's true.
" The former Olympian sprinter encouraged Eamonn and others in his position to start their exercise journey just by taking small steps. She added: "I always say try. I'm petrified of heights, and people know that, but I kept on doing it.
The hardest thing is to start. "It doesn't matter what it is – as long as you make that first move, you'll get better." She emphasized that even a little bit of exercise can go a long way, sharing: "We have everyone doing our moves, from two-year-olds up to their 90s.
People say they're inspired to think about their health. "Everyone's journey is different. Mine has been different.
I think it's just inspiring people to think they can do it. People can touch on inside themselves and push on to see what they can do." Eamonn recently asked his followers to pray for him as he battles with consistent pain and fears that he may never overcome his mobility issues.
He wrote: "Even when the sun shines there's pain. Sometimes I feel I'll never beat this disc immobility but I'm determined to have a life ..

so pray for me, help me or get out of the way social media haters." The presenter previously admitted that he "can no longer walk or look after himself"..
