These unexpected DWP payments could land in your bank account before the festive period begins. The payments range from underpaid benefits to the £10 Christmas Bonus, as well as correction exercises – known as LEAP – for state pensioners and PIP claimants.

In addition to these four, claimants could also be due a windfall due to changes in their circumstances. When your circumstances change, your benefits payments often alter too, meaning you could receive more or less money – depending on what's happened. It's important to report changes to your circumstances promptly to ensure you continue getting the correct amount each month.

Any delay may result in receiving too much money which you would then have to repay. Changes in your circumstances can affect how much you're paid for your entire assessment period – not just from the date you report them. Such changes can include finding or finishing a job, having a child, moving in with your partner, starting to care for a child or disabled person, your child stopping or restarting education or training if they're aged 16 to 19.

They could also include changing your mobile number or email address. Other potential changes could include relocating to a new address, leaving Great Britain for any period of time if you normally live there, or leaving Northern Ireland for any period if that's your home. Changes in bank details and rent payments are also included, reports Birmingham Live .

Other alterations might involve changes to your health condition, becoming too sick to work or meet with your work coach, changes to your earnings (only applicable if you're self-employed), changes to your savings, investments and overall financial status, and changes to your immigration status, if you're not a British citizen. The sixth and final payment is payments being made early for Christmas – due to bank holidays. Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks.
