There’s a new technology leader at the helm in Durham, N.C., after a departure last month.
Kerry Goode, who had served as chief information officer and director of the city’s for 15 years, officially resigned from both roles on March 14, Beverly Thompson, director of the Durham Communications Department, said via email. Marcia Richardson is now serving as interim CIO and department director; the city is not currently conducting a search for a permanent CIO. Richardson, who has served as Durham’s chief infrastructure and operations officer since January, is now responsible for all major technology projects currently underway, including implementing the city’s newly selected enterprise resource planning solution, from Oracle, to advance business operations across the organization.
The interim CIO was formerly director of the IT division at the Durham County Department of Public Health, where she oversaw the use of data for performance reporting and provided strategic input on departmental policies and procedures. Goode’s tenure as city CIO began in April 2010 and included the rollout and oversight of several large technology initiatives — years during which the city regularly ranked in the Center for Digital Government’s .* Initiatives he helped shepherd to deployment included the successful implementation of an IT governance model aimed at aligning business goals, performance metrics and compliance requirements while strengthening the city’s cybersecurity strategy.
