Similarly, using a tumble dryer can be costly, prompting some homeowners to seek cost-effective alternatives. A possible solution is the heated airer, which combines the heat of a radiator with the convenience of an airer, making it ideal for indoor drying during the colder months.

These devices are also relatively inexpensive to operate, reports the Mirror . High street favourite Dunelm offers various sizes and styles of heated airers to fit different homes. The most affordable option is the £40 Heated Airer with Wings from Dunelm , which costs from just 6p per hour to run.

One satisfied customer said: " I find the Airer very handy , especially when is dry enough to air, without needing to put on the heating." Another added: "We've needed a new airer for weeks and as this electric one was only about £10 more than a basic one we thought we'd give it a go.

Very pleased with this airer as it has loads of useful space and is cheap to run - or just use it unpowered when the room is warm enough. The thicker rails compared to our old airer also help to reduce creases." A third wrote: "I bought this airer to see if this worked at drying my clothes, within the first hour light clothes were dry, only jumpers and cardigans took longer.
