No doubt, Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is the only Mollywood actor to become a popular hero in Telugu. With the success of his latest release ‘Lucky Bhaskar’, the talented actor has achieved a unique feat. “He has scored a hattrick of hits in Telugu since his earlier movies ‘Mahanati’ and ‘Sita Ramam’ were also big money spinners,” says a director.
Realizing his expanded market in Telugu states; he has signed two more films to get closer to Telugu viewers who seem to like his good looks and subtle performance. “His next film would be ‘Akasam Lo Oka Tara’ with young director Pavan Sadineni and the first look was impressive. In an epic collaboration, he has teamed up with Rana Daggubati for another film ‘Kaantha.
’ Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film is set in 1950s Madras, now Chennai. “Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan are jointly producing the film and it is the first Telugu production for Dulquer,’ he points out. He has paved the way for his colleagues like Fahad Faasil, Tom Shine Chacko, and Joju George to pick up hero-based movies in Telugu as well.
“For now, Fahad Faasil is another powerhouse of talent and he is playing the ruthless cop in the ‘Pushpa’ series. His colleagues Joju George and Tom Chackoo have done negative roles in films like ‘Adhikeshava’ and ‘Devara’ respectively. They are heroes in Malayalam movies and rule the roost in the OTT domain with their acting prowess.
They could also do one or two movies as ‘protagonist’ in Telugu in days to come," he concludes..
