DUI driver in deadly Anaheim hit-and-run, caught sleeping in another vehicle, gets 15 years

A 33-year-old man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison for a deadly hit-and-run crash in Anaheim, court records show. John Edward Angulo of Orange pleaded guilty Thursday, August 29 to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury, with a sentencing enhancement for fleeing the scene. Angulo killed 37-year-old Lawrence Harris of Buena Park , according to Anaheim police.

He ran a red light before his car slammed into the victim’s vehicle at Knott and Orange avenues, police said. Angulo ran away and was caught hours later sleeping in another vehicle near the crash scene, they said. Related Articles.
