Dublin-headquartered AI security start-up CalypsoAI will receive a $5m (€4.5m) prize as a finalist at a San Francisco-based conference. The start-up is among 10 finalists at the IT security conference – RSAC’s Innovation Sandbox – a competition for companies that have introduced new technologies into the cybersecurity sector.

CalypsoAI was selected for its ‘Inference Platform’ – a software that helps large organisations make better use of AI security. It has been used by companies like Palantir and IBM Watson. “CalypsoAI is addressing the most urgent challenges that enterprises face in securely scaling AI,” said Donnchadh Casey, CEO of CalypsoAI.

“Our solutions allow companies to innovate without exposing themselves to risk.” The RSAC hosts over 40,000 attendees working in the sector – the Innovation Sandbox identifies major contributions from up-and-coming start-ups. This year, each finalist will receive the $5m investment.

“We’re growing our technology team rapidly to create unique AI-powered security products,” said CTO James White. “With this investment, we will accelerate the launch of several key innovations already in the pipeline.” The initial prize money will come from US-based Crosspoint Capital – a specialist cybersecurity and infrastructure investment firm.

Last year, Crosspoint led a €65m investment in Everseen, a Cork-based AI vision company. RSAC’s Innovation Sandbox will be held on Monday, April 28, when the final winner will be announced..
