DU Schedule Out For 3rd UG Phase

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) announced the schedule for the third phase of admissions to its undergraduate programmes on Friday. As of 5pm on the day, 75,083 admissions had been completed in the second phase, surpassing the 71,600 seats available. A university official explained that additional allocations were made to ensure optimal seat utilisation and confirmed that “each admitted student has been accepted by their respective college, with St Stephen’s College being an exception”.

The official added, “The total seat count does not include certain quota and supernumerary seats. Allocations are done keeping in mind potential withdrawals and other such circumstances.” Haneet Gandhi, dean of admissions at DU, said, “It is historic that we have successfully filled so many seats in just two rounds.



This has never happened before and it will ensure that the academic session proceeds as planned, despite the initial delay.” Of the 75,083 students who were admitted, 41,885 chose to ‘freeze’ their seats, while 29,344 opted for an ‘upgrade’. The time for payment of fees for the second round was extended till 11.

An upgrade window for students from the previous two admission phases will open at 5pm on Aug 31 and close at 4.59pm on Sept 1. During this period, students admitted earlier will have the opportunity to move to higher preference courses or colleges and reorder their preferences.

Updated allocations will be released on September 3, and the first round of admissions for this phase will commence at 5pm on the same day. Students must accept their allocations by 4.59pm on Sept 4 and submit their fees by 4.

The Student Academic Management System (SAMS) website is now open to facilitate this transition, aiding students in choosing preferred colleges. Choice-filling round for admissions to medical, dental courses from Aug 25 The admission process for MBBS and BDS courses in Gujarat will start on Sunday. Over 23,000 students have registered for 7,792 seats in medical and dental colleges.

Candidates must fill their choices by Aug 29. The committee will announce seat allocations later. Proposals for three new medical colleges were not approved.
