Prayagraj: In a major development, Kaushambi police on Sunday arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Devendra Tiwari (24), a resident of Paschim Sarira, and seized over 37 kg of illegal ganja worth Rs 8 lakh, one car, Rs 2,100 cash and two mobiles from his possession. A team of Maheva Ghat police, acting upon a specific tip-off that a drug peddler was moving towards Godhpur trisection to deliver a drug consignment, intercepted the car and seized the illegal drug consignment. The accused was booked under sections 8 and 20 of NDPS.
Meanwhile, Fatehpur police also arrested a man identified as Dharmendra (32), a resident of Umra (Khaga), on the charges of killing a man at Chak Bisauli village under the limits of Kotwali police station. A group of three persons- Shivam, Ashish Shukla and Dharmendra, allegedly thrashed a 38-year-old man at Bisauli village, resulting in his death on Jan 16 this year. While police managed to arrest Shivam and Ashish, Dharmendra was evading police action.
