Motorists faced severe delays on the region's motorways after reports of person on a bridge and a crash involving a car and a HGV. Motorways affected were the M60 and M61, leading to gridlock in some areas. ‘Severe' delays of over an hour clogged the M60 clockwise between junction four and junction 24.
The M61 northbound was also partially blocked, with queues from junction one M60 J15 (Swinton Interchange) to junction two, A580 interchange, following reports of a “person on a bridge” at around 6am.
