Drew Lock is set to make his first start of the year in Week 13 for the Giants, as the 28-year-old will fill in for an injured Tommy DeVito against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. Lock has spent the entire 2024 NFL season as the backup quarterback on the Giants depth chart. But with Daniel Jones' release followed by DeVito's injury, Lock is in line to be the Giants' third starter at the position this year — unless DeVito can make a surprise recovery in time for Thursday's game.

As Lock returns to the NFL spotlight, many fans may remember him from a moment during his rookie season almost five years ago. The former second-round pick out of Missouri has always had a strong personality, and that was on display from the moment he entered the league. Sporting News takes a look back at when Lock took social media by storm for his rapping on the Broncos' bench in 2019.

The moment became a gif that went viral, as Lock's personality was on full display in the video. THIS IS INCREDIBLE pic.

He couldn't even remember which song he was rapping on the bench. But he did notice how confident he was in knowing the words. "I was spitting though," Lock said.

"I'm gonna have to find out what song it was." A post shared by The Checkdown (@thecheckdown) When he was told he was caught on camera, Lock actually thought it caught him rapping to "Jump Around" by House of Pain, which he apparently did in the huddle during the game. Almost five years later, despite Lock no longer playing for Denver, people on social media still use Lock rapping as a go-to GIF when discussing the quarterback.

But he has started close to a full slate in just one season — 2020 with Denver — though he missed three games, two with a rotator cuff injury and one due to a violation of COVID-19 protocols. In every other season, Lock has primarily been a backup.

That is how he spent this year before Jones' release and DeVito's injury..
