Dramatic photo shows car on tracks at New Beckenham station causing eight-hour delays

This is the dramatic moment of a car on the tracks at New Beckenham station which caused travel chaos across the network.

Emergency services were called to New Beckenham station in Lennard Road at around 4.30am on December 14. A picture from the scene, shared by National Rail on X, shows silver Ford car stuck in the middle of tracks with fire crews surrounding the vehicle.

twitter.com/UXU9QEiZo3 All trains between Hayes and New Beckenham were unable to run as the incident was being dealt with. Repairs of the line were carried out and all services returned to normal at around 12.

30am. It is unknown whether anyone was injured as a result of the incident. We have contacted British Transport Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade for further information.
