Canadian rapper Drake is due to take the stage at RAC Arena over two nights this week but his supporting act is yet to be announced — that is if the artist has plans to have a fellow rapper join him. The 38-year-old superstar will stop in cities around Australia this month but is so far performing his Anita Max Win tour without an opening act. He will play for Perth fans on Tuesday and Wednesday night with shows yet to be sold out.
However, Drake is known for bringing out surprise guests at his shows with the rumour mill churning out a list of possible names according to the publication Tone Deaf . Gordo : A producer who has worked with Drake on songs like Sideways and Healing. Smiley : An October’s Very Own (an independent record label founded by Drake in 2012) rapper who Drake has credited as an influence on his 2018 album Scorpion.
4KARII : An artist that Drake has hyped up online. Lil Wayne : A rapper who some fans believe could make an appearance as he’s been a regular guest on Drake’s recent North American shows. Lil Wayne’s own tour not kicking off until late February and during a recent interview he said he would be “out of the country” during the Superbowl which takes place next Monday.
Drake’s Anita Max Win tour follows his 2023/2024 It’s All A Blur tour, which featured J. Cole and 21 Savage as special guests. With the Aussie leg his first visit Down Under since 2017, he’s sure to pull out an incredible surprise for fans who are eagerly awaiting the Perth concert on Tuesday night.
It seems they will have to remain patient unless the singer confirms a supporting act beforehand. A Drake fan Instagram account shared a video on Monday night that possibly teased a sound check taking place in Perth. “It’s Almost Showtime Australia,” the video was captioned.
Following his Perth shows, Drake will jet off to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland. Drake’s previous shows across the globe have been huge with songs such as God’s Plan, One Dance, Hold On, We’re Going Home and Rich Flex making the set list. Newer tracks like Virginia Beach, IDGAF and Gently have also made appearances.
