SUBANG JAYA: The Health Ministry will ensure that victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline blast who suffer from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are not deprived of their medications.Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said healthcare workers stationed at the Putra Heights mosque temporary relief centre are not only treating victims who sustained thermal injuries from the blast on Tuesday morning."They are also ensuring that victims with NCDs continue to receive treatment and that their medication supplies are not disrupted.
"Their MySejahtera application will indicate their medical needs, as some medications, such as those for cholesterol and diabetes, must be taken continuously."The mental health and psychosocial support service workers are also here to ensure that victims remain emotionally stable."We will continue to be here for the next week or so," he said after visiting the centre.
He also said that those who have been mentally traumatised by the incident are still being treated and closely monitored."Cases like this must be followed up. We need to monitor them post-trauma, which is an even greater challenge," he said.
As of 12pm, 379 victims from 97 families are taking refuge at the centre.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
