Downton Abbey fans have only just learned two stars have a child together in real life

Two Downton Abbey actors, who won over fans with their portrayals of Lady Edith Crawley and footman Andrew Parker, found love off-screen. Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox have mostly kept their relationship out of the public eye, and many Downton Abbey fans may not realise they have a four year old son together. The couple connected when Michael debuted in the series' fifth season, and as their screen time together grew, so did their affection, eventually extending to joint appearances in movies like Downton Abbey: A New Era.

However, it wasn't until a full year after the show's finale that the pair confirmed their relationship, first stepping out together publicly in 2016. Talking about her experiences on the set and her unexpected romance with Town and Country magazine, Laura said: "When you are able to work, and love it, it is such a joy. I've fallen in love and made wonderful friends – how lucky am I?" Meanwhile, Michael discussed their preference for privacy during an interview with the Sunday Post saying: "We try not to talk about [our romance] too much outside of our personal lives - and that was the same on set.



It was just professional.' Echoing his partner's sentiments, he said: "We'd go to work and we didn't want it to be a thing in any way when we were working together - It was great, though, to go to work with your best pal!" Michael has also been showcasing hidden talents as not only an actor, but a musician and songwriter who enjoys jamming with his band Luna. Recently, fans of Downton Abbey have also been abuzz with the title reveal of its third film, officially named The Grand Finale.

Downton enthusiasts will have to harness their excitement a little longer; the new instalment won't hit cinema screens until September 12. However, the anticipation has been fueled by a teaser from the creators that simply said: "The time has come to say goodbye..
