Downton Abbey stars Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox don't just have a bond on the set of the period drama - they have a real-life relationship too.

Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox have starred in multiple Downton Abbey TV series, with loyal fans knowing that Laura played Lady Edith Crawley, while Michael was footman turned foreman Andrew Parker. However, did you know that behind the scenes they secretly fell head over heels in love, before going to quietly welcome a child? Their adorable son Luca is now four years old, but the pair have craftily stayed away from the limelight when it comes to their personal lives - so much so that many weren't even aware they'd been dating. They met when Michael joined the cast in series five and went on to star together not just on the small screen, but in follow-up films such as Downton Abbey: A New Era.

Neither had expected love to blossom during the Julian Fellowes series, and when it did, they remained schtum until a year after they filmed it, only stepping out together for the first time in 2016. On rare occasions, Laura has spoken of her delight about meeting the father of her child on set, telling Town and Country magazine: "When you are able to work, and love it, it is such a joy." She added bashfully: "I've fallen in love and made wonderful friends – how lucky am I?" Meanwhile, Michael told the Sunday Post of how he'd strived to keep things professional at work.

"We try not to talk about [our romance] too much outside of our personal lives - and that was the same on set. It was just professional," he explained. Echoing his partner's thoughts, he added: "We'd go to work and we didn't want it to be a thing in any way when we were working together - It was great, though, to go to work with your best pal!" Michael is a dark horse in more ways than one, as many Downton fans are unaware that he's a musician and songwriter in a band called Luna in his spare time, too.

In other Downton news, the third film's title has officially been confirmed as The Grand Finale. It won't be in theatres for several months yet, as it's set to debut on September 12, but it leaves time for suspense to set in, after producers teased: "The time has come to say goodbye..
