Douglas helps Mexico celebrate its Independence Day; two new China Poblanas hatted

DOUGLAS — With Mexico celebrating its Independence Day on Monday, Sept. 16, Douglas held a Mexican Independence Day celebration of its own on Friday, Sept. 13 as part of its monthly Energize Douglas event which is designed to bring the community together.

Friday’s event, which attracted several hundred people, had G Avenue blocked off from Ninth to 11th Street and included live Mariachi ahi's music as well as Folklorico dances from both Gemma German’s Paul Huber Middle School in Douglas and Mexico En La Piel from Agua Prieta, Sonora..
