Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett is the type of game-wrecking talent that headlines every opposing game plan on the schedule. He’s the best edge rusher in the sport and has a damn good case for being the top player on his side of the ball. But the New York Giants may not be facing the superstar at his best on Sunday.
Garrett has been a staple on Cleveland’s injury report as he deals with injuries to both of his feet. Jeff Lange / USA TODAY NETWORK He was open about his discomfort on Friday. "Don't feel 100 percent, but feel good enough to go out there and make a difference," Garrett said, via Daniel Oyefusi .
Garrett’s injury hasn’t slowed him down this season. He’s logged a strip sack in each of the Browns’ first two games. Against a Giants offensive line that is still working to prove its legitimacy and quarterback Daniel Jones, whose biggest flaw may be the pressure he brings onto himself, Garrett is likely licking his chops.
Garrett did not participate in Wednesday or Thursday’s practices, but was limited on Friday. He does not carry a game day status, meaning he’ll be lining up opposite left tackle Andrew Jones on Sunday in Cleveland. It's the biggest test of the early going for both stars.
He may be playing through pain, but New York can’t bank on getting an off day from Garrett. Any attention not sent his way is a danger to the wellbeing of Jones and the offense.
