Delivery giant DoorDash has suspended service in Los Angeles to areas impacted by the Southern California wildfires that broke out on January 7, 2025. The first service suspensions went into effect on Tuesday, January 7, in the areas surrounding the Palisades and Eaton fires, including Santa Monica, Westwood, Brentwood, Calabasas, Altadena, and Pasadena. Due to other fires throughout the region, service in San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and Northridge is also temporarily unavailable.
In a release, DoorDash says that it will “continue to closely monitor the conditions on the ground.” The first wildfires broke out on January 7 as life-threatening winds swept across Los Angeles and into heavily populated areas in the Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and more. On the evening of January 7, Malibu restaurants Reel Inn, Cholada Thai, and Rosenthal Winery burnt down.
Numerous other restaurants across the region have temporarily closed their doors on January 7 and January 8 , with some losing power. Others in less impacted areas, like Republique in Mid-City and Re/creation Cafe in Palms, remain open for the time being. Eater has reached out to UberEats for comment about the current status of its operations in Los Angeles.
