A donation helped a swimming club hold its first ever mini meet gala for youngsters, writes Tyler Kay Newark Swimming Club was able to host the event thanks to a £500 donation from Bellway Homes. The meet also featured young swimmers from Southwell, totalling 60 competitors from across both clubs. Head coach Adam McIntyre said: “The £500 from Bellway made a significant contribution towards the pool hire and the cost of medals for the swimmers.

“This allowed us to keep the cost low and ensured the best event was accessible to all, whilst allowing a small overall profit from the event that can be reinvested into volunteer training.” Steve Smith, sales director at Bellway East Midlands, said: “Grassroots clubs play a vital role in bringing a community together and offering local youngsters the opportunity to try out a sport and make friends.” Newark Swimming Club has more than 170 members of all ages.
