Police are still investigating the nature of the attempted assassination attempt but have identified North Carolina native Ryan Routh, 58, as the man who aimed an at the former president as he went about his game. Shortly after the Secret Service agents opened fire, Routh allegedly fled the scene and attempted to speed away in a black Nissan.
