Ludhiana: The Domoria railway under-bridge (RUB), a critical link between Ludhiana's old city and Civil Lines, will close for three months starting Wednesday for the expansion of the Delhi-Amritsar railway line . To mitigate traffic disruption, Ludhiana traffic police have issued a comprehensive diversion plan. The closure of the RUB is expected to significantly impact daily commuters, with six key diversion points identified: Old Vegetable Market near Kapoor Hospital, Mata Rani Chowk, Clock Tower Chowk, Deepak Cinema Chowk, Kailash Chowk, and Gol Market Chowk.

Traffic Control Efforts Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jatin Bansal has appealed for public cooperation in adhering to the diversion plan and allowing extra travel time to accommodate potential delays. Additional police personnel will be deployed to manage congestion, particularly during peak hours. While these measures aim to minimize traffic disruptions, authorities anticipate challenges as vehicles are funneled into alternate routes like Lakkar Bridge, which already faces significant traffic pressure.

The three-month closure underscores the importance of planned infrastructure upgrades but highlights the need for efficient traffic management to ensure smooth connectivity in one of Ludhiana’s busiest areas.
