Doha, Qatar: The curtain fell on the fourth edition of the International Camel Handball Championship Qatar 2025, with hosts Qatar clinching their second title after a commanding 15-12 victory over Iraq in the final at the Lebsayer Heritage Field in Al Shahaniya yesterday.
Team Qatar, featuring Ali Al Dosari, Sultan Al Kuwari and Omar Al Shahwani, had to face a stiff opposition in the title clash against Iraq, which included Ali Jameel Kazim, Hussein Ali Hamad and Oraibi Manea.
Earlier, Qatar had triumphed over Lebanon 24–16 before defeating Australia 11-7 in the quarter-finals.
The victory earned Qatar a prize bag of $10,000, while runners-up Iraq earned $9,000. Morocco took third place with a $6,000 prize, while Somalia rounded out the top four.
In addition to the cash reward, the Qatari team received a newly designed, gold-plated trophy.
Following the final, Arab Union for Camel Racing (AUCR) President and Vice Chairman of the Camel Racing Organizing Committee Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sheikh Al Kuwari presented the trophies and medals to the podium winners.
He was joined by Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the International Handball Federation Hussein Mustafa Fathi and Qatar Handball Federation President Ahmed Mohammed Al Shaabi.
The standout individuals were also honoured by AUCR Secretary-General Dr Hazam Al Maqarih and Secretary-General of the Qatar Handball Association Mohammed Jaber Al Mulla.
The individual awards were as follows: Best Player - John Arthur Elliott of Australia; Best Goalkeeper - Oraibi Fatlawi of Iraq; Top Scorer - Yahya Taku of Somalia; Fair Play Award - Bulgaria.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, AUCR President Al Kuwari congratulated the winners and praised the performance of all participating teams.
“The fourth edition of the championship was exceptional, with great technical prowess displayed by every team. This edition also witnessed wide participation from different continents, reinforcing the tournament’s global standing.
Camel handball has gained remarkable popularity in recent years, and we expect even more teams to join us in the next edition.”
Following the trophy presentation, the Qatari national anthem resonated through the field, prompting jubilant celebrations among fans, marking a festive conclusion to the championship which saw 17 nations in contest.
