Tyreek Hill, one of the NFL's best wide receivers, has played three seasons with the Miami Dolphins, but throughout this offseason, it has looked like he may have played his last game for them. Just after Week 18, he made some public comments that heavily implied he wanted to be traded. He has since walked back those comments a bit, but he also hasn't said that he wants to stay put either.
If Miami does have to end up trading him, it will have to recoup enough assets, and at the same time, he could transform one lucky team into a contender. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report suggested five draft day trades involving Hill, and one of them has him going to the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that is suddenly on the rise in the AFC West. Moton suggested that Miami give up Hill and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick to the Chargers in return for a second-round pick this year and a fourth-round selection in 2026.
"In free agency, the Los Angeles Chargers signed wide receiver Mike Williams, who has a rapport with quarterback Justin Herbert," Moton wrote . "They played together between 2020 and 2023. "That said, Williams will turn 31 in October.
In 2023, he missed 14 games because of a torn ACL and didn't play more than 53 percent of the offensive snaps with the New York Jets or Pittsburgh Steelers last season. "At this stage in his career, Williams may be more effective with fewer snaps. That's why Los Angeles should pursue Hill, who's still performing at his peak.
"...
Hill would fill a void and take full advantage of his target share as a complement to wideout Ladd McConkey." Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Los Angeles went 11-6 in 2024 as new head coach Jim Harbaugh gave it a strong identity and soul. McConkey had a fine rookie season with 82 catches, 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns, but it doesn't have any other legitimate playmakers at wide receiver.
Hill may be 31 years of age and coming off of a down year in which he posted 959 yards and six touchdowns. But perhaps a change of scenery could recharge his batteries, and he could develop a terrific partnership with Herbert, whose throwing arm resembles a military-grade rocket launcher. By getting a second-round pick back for Hill, the Fins could take a quality player who could contribute right away while remaining competitive and retooling a bit for the short-term future.
