Tottenham Hotspur have endured a rather challenging 2024/25 campaign where the North Londoners have been struggling to find any sort of consistency across all competitions, and that could be clearly seen in the league places where the Lilywhites are currently languishing in 14th place, which, to put into perspective, is just one point above 16th-placed Everton with the Merseysiders having a game in hand, and the pressure on Ange Postecoglou continues to rise, especially following the crushing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final the other day. Now Spurs season comes down to two probables; one is the FA Cup, and the other is the Europa League. In all honesty, given the 1-0 lead in the first leg against the Reds, the Carabao Cup looked like Tottenham’s most realistic opportunity of lifting a trophy this season.
While you could put all pressure on the Australian head coach at the helm, the North Londoners have had their fair share of injury concerns, especially on the defensive side of the roster, where key players like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have been serving the sidelines for the majority of the ongoing season. And while injuries have also been a problem in other parts of the squad, the absence of their key cog at the heart of the park has been a major reason behind a leaking defence. Redknapp comes in support of Postecoglou And now former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has shared his thoughts on the ongoing struggles at White Hart Lane while standing behind Postecoglou, insisting on the importance of time for head coaches to succeed in their jobs.
Speaking on Talksport , he said: “The manager, I really want to see him succeed, look at some managers from the last few years, top managers, look how the other managers they’ve sacked are doing,” he said. “Mourinho is doing well, Conte is up there near the top in Italy, Nottingham Forest is flying [Nuno Espirito Santo], but they’ve all come and gone, you need good players as you know, they’ve had injuries that have been a massive problem as well, they really have at the back, he’s desperately short of central defenders. “So, he just needs to be given time, get his players back, give him a full squad to work with and see what he can do but I’m a fan of his, I want to see him succeed, I’d hate to see them suddenly cast him aside as well.
” Hopefully Tottenham can salvage something out of this season, and they have an opportunity to progress in the FA Cup as they face Aston Villa in the third round tomorrow..
