NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government, accusing them of neglecting "the issues of the people" ahead of the 2025 Budget session. "He does not talk about people's issues, does not address them. We saw in the last session, he did not (allow) debate.
So he will say such things," the Wayanad MP told news agency PTI, outside the Parliament premises. 'No foreign attempt to stoke a fire' Earlier, today Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's attacked the opposition saying that it was the first time since 2014, that there was no attempt to spark any "foreign interference" ahead of a Budget session. "This is perhaps the first session of Parliament since 2014, in which a day or two before the session, there has been no foreign attempt to stoke a fire from abroad," the prime minister said.
"I have been observing since 2014 that before every session, people are ready to create mischief and here there is no dearth of people to support them. This is the first session I am seeing after 10 years in which no spark was ignited from any foreign corner," he added. Reacting to PM Modi's comments Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said, "It is surprising that the Prime Minister has said that there has been foreign interference in the last 10 years under his watch," Chidambaram told ANI.
"It's incumbent upon him to expose that foreign interference and use every organ of the state and all forums he has internationally to expose them and go after them legally," he added. 'She could hardly speak, poor thing' Earlier, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi also reacted to President Droupadi Murmu 's address ahead of the Budget session, stating that the President appeared to become "tired" towards the end of her speech and "could hardly speak." "The President was getting very tired by the end.
She could hardly speak, poor thing," Sonia, who attended the joint sitting of both the Houses said. In her speech, President Murmu underscored the government's commitment to advancing youth education and generating employment opportunities. She reaffirmed the administration's guiding philosophy: "Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.
" "The third term of the government is witnessing work at thrice the speed of previous administrations. The government has taken big decisions on issues such as Waqf boards and One Nation, One Election," President Murmu said. "Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the government decided to provide health insurance to six crore citizens aged 70 years and above.
The government has placed special focus on the education of youth and creating new employment opportunities for them," she added. Following her address, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Economic Survey—at 12 noon in the Lok Sabha and 2 PM in the Rajya Sabha—offering insights into the nation's economic landscape. The Union Budget will be presented on February 1.
