MABEL — Isaac Underbakke ran for the lone touchdown of the fourth quarter, and that was the difference for Mabel-Canton in a back-and-forth thriller against Southland here Friday night. Underbakke’s score gave the Cougars a 34-32, and Mabel-Canton’s defense held up the rest of the way, preserving the victory and improving its record to 3-1 overall. Southland dropped to 2-2 overall.

ADVERTISEMENT It was a big bounce-back win for Mabel-Canton, which suffered its first loss of the season last week against Houston. On Friday, the Cougars piled up 404 yards of total offense, led by Kale Tollefsrud’s outstanding all-around game; he finished with 242 total yards, including 154 on the ground. He also had one rushing and one receiving touchdown.



Underbakke passed for 122 yards and rushed for 34 in the win. He passed for two TDs and ran for one. Tyler Larson also ran for a TD, and Darian Hershberger caught one TD pass.
