The woman could be seen in footage sitting at the head of a table in the Puerto Chale Restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico , before making her sneaky move.
The table is packed full of food and the female diner picks away at her food while chatting with three other people at the table. After a few moments, the woman can be seen looking around quickly before sliding her hand under the table and pulling out what appears to be a small container. She gives her hand a quick shake over her plate before returning to her meal and conversation as if nothing had happened as what is believed to be a dead cockroach falls onto the dish.

After poking her fork around the plate of food for a moment, she pretends to notice something in her meal and raises her hand to her mouth in a show of shock and disgust. A waitress dashes over to the seemingly distressed customer while the woman points out the insect in her food.
She can be seen gagging and making vomiting gestures as the oblivious waitress grabs the dish off the table and returns it to the kitchen. The woman then wipes her mouth with a tissue and her theatrics seem to be over as she engages in conversation with the table once again. The man next to her smirks and slides her over a different plate of food as they believe they have gotten away with their sneaky antics.
Moments later, the man looks up and makes direct eye contact with the CCTV camera lens, warning the woman that they may have been recorded the whole time. She turns her head with a worried expression on her face and also looks up to the camera before continuing her conversation and ultimately lodged a complaint at the till. The complaint led to them being let off the bill, according to the owner of the Mexican restaurant.
They explained that the woman threatened to cause a scandal if they charged her for the food. She quickly realized there was a CCTV camera above her head The woman continued eating before lodging a complaint and receiving a refund However, as restaurant workers operate stringent health protocols and check every dish as it leaves the kitchen, they suspected foul play. As soon as the group left the premises, the manager reviewed the CCTV images and discovered that the family allegedly staged a premeditated scam.
They shared the video of the 'unfortunate incident' on their TikTok page where it went viral with 3.3million views and thousands of comments. One local said: 'What a terrible family, what disgusting people from young to old.
' Another wrote: 'I wonder how many other places they've done this?' A third commented: 'If the restaurant let them leave without paying, it's their fault because they should have checked the footage immediately.' After the video went viral on TikTok, users accused the same family of scamming other restaurants in Guadalajara with similar tactics. Some locals have even given the woman the nickname 'Roach Lady' due to her alleged stunts to avoid paying the bill.
