THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government and the CPM are in a crisis over ADGP M R Ajith Kumar's meeting with RSS leaders. Questions are being asked to the government by many including the constituent party CPI on the issue. Not only that, CPM state secretary M V Govindan yesterday made public his anger over the incident where Ajith Kumar met RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale twice.
With LDF convener T P Ramakrishnan also opening up that the purpose of the ADGP's meeting with the RSS leaders should come out, it is clear that the spearheads are on the government and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The reaction of the LDF convenor is also a sign that dissatisfaction is simmering in the LDF at Ajith Kumar's meeting with the RSS leader. With this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan may be forced to remove Ajith Kumar from the charge of law and order.
The circumstantial evidence supporting MLA P V Anwar's allegation that Ajith Kumar was behind the disruption of Thrissur Pooram that led to the party candidate's defeat in the parliamentary elections has also irked the CPI. The CPM is smelling danger from a lone voice raised in the CPI district councils and a collective voice in the state executive committee meeting saying that it will lose its existence if it joins the CPM and that it is preferable to rejoin the UDF. Other constituent parties of the front, including the Kerala Congress Mani, who remain silent, are also angry with the government's move.
They are preparing to raise the issue in the LDF meeting on Wednesday. Moreover, the harsh criticism leveled at the home department is a big topic of discussion in the CPM branch meetings. Following the accusations raised by Anwar, criticism is being leveled at the home department and the chief minister's office.
The question also arises as to why he is protecting MLA Mukesh even after receiving complaints. The ranks also blame the government for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. This also goes towards Pinarayi.
Members point to Anwar's allegations as proof of the home department's lack of grip. Along with the chief minister, the trusted political secretary P Sasi has also come under heavy criticism. M V Govindan blamed the government for the controversy regarding the meeting with the RSS leader.
Govindan said that it will not affect the party. To the question that the CPI expressed displeasure at the meeting, he retorted whether they think everything they have said so far is satisfactory. He said the government should take a decision in that regard.
The question of why the government is protecting those who do deviant acts that bring disrespect to the government and the front is widely raised in the party branch meetings. Meanwhile, ADGP Ajith Kumar's four-day leave also turned controversial. Anwar had also alleged that Ajith Kumar, a notorious criminal, is going on leave to sabotage the investigation.
Meantime, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan remains silent as controversies rage against the government and the party. After the Wayanad tragedy, the chief minister held some press meets but till now he was not ready to respond to the allegations leveled by Anwar and the BJP connections raised by opposition leader V D Satheesan. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is isolated in the party as accusations are flowing.
In the past, including the leaders of his own district, Kannur, came forward to prepare a shield for the chief minister, but now no leader has come forward. CPM's cyber warriors are also adopting a pattern of silence. Posts expressing anger at present current state of the party are doing the rounds in cyberspace.
