That handed former two-time heavyweight king Fury the first defeat of his imperious career and Usyk hurt him badly to score a knockdown in a raucous ninth round.
Victory meant Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist repeating the feat he completed during his dominant run at cruiserweight. Boxing's interminable politics means the four main alphabet belts were not on the line on Saturday night at the Kingdom Arena, but Fury knew a revenge triumph would go a long way to securing his legacy as the greatest of his era.
