In an interview, the actress revealed that it reminded her of the 'vicious' attacks she received in her early years. The actress could empathise with her Nadaaniyan co-stars as she had similar experience back in the day. "We didn’t have social media then, but I was burnt at the stake. So, I empathise with how hard a personal attack can hit.
The only privilege I had was that I was a beauty title holder. Beyond that, I didn’t have any support system," Dia said. The actress further revealed she was made to believe that she would be 'obscure' by her 40s.
However, one film changed her perception of life in 40s. "For me, Dhak Dhak was a clarion call. It changed my perception of how life would be in my 40s.
The industry had made me believe that by my 40s, I’d be obscure," she added. Six years since streaming as a web series, the project was now released as a film on ZEE5.
In the same conversation, the actress recounted that Kaafir was initially written as film, but it was on hold for many years. Later, the streaming platform decided to make it as a series and writer Bhavani Iyer rewrote it. "Now, [as it streams in a film format], I was curious to see what would be retained," she said, on a parting note.
