The feud between Dhanush and Nayanthara—the two heavyweights of Kollywood—has reached a new crescendo. On Sunday, the ‘Jawaan’ star took to Instagram and penned a long, scathing letter to her former friend, superstar Dhanush, calling him “vile”. She lashed out at him for slamming a Rs 10 crore lawsuit for using a three-second clip from a song from the 2015 hit movie ‘ Naanum Rowdy Dhaan ’, which was produced by Dhanush.
While many Tamil actresses have rallied behind the ‘Jawan’ actress, Dhanush was yet to respond. However, recently the actor’s legal representative issued a statement. The statement issued by Dhanush's advocate read, "My client is the producer of the film, and they know where they have spent each penny for the production of the film, and your client has stated that my client has not commissioned any person to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage, and the said statement is baseless, and your client is put to strict proof of the same.
" Dhanush’s legal representative clarified that his client found the opposing party’s argument ambiguous, as it claimed ownership of the BTS footage by the individual who filmed it. The lawyer emphasized that, as the film's producer, Dhanush holds the rightful ownership of the clip. He urged the opposing party to remove the content violating his client’s copyright over 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan'.
Failure to comply would result in legal action, including a Rs. 10 crore damages claim against both the party and Netflix India. "Advice your client to take down the content infringing my client's copyright over the film NAANUM ROWDY DHAAN by using the same in your client's documentary named NAYANTHARA BEYOND THE FAIRYTALE within 24 hours, failing which my client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs.
10 crores against your client and Netflix India," concluded the statement. For context, Nayanthara criticized Dhanush in an open letter, accusing him of obstructing her documentary, 'Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale', by alleging copyright infringement . She revealed that her team had been seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to include footage from her film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' in the project.
The documentary explores the journey of the ‘Lady Superstar,’ and also her love story with husband, director Vignesh Shivan..
