Detox india ordered to shut down after fatal explosion

Surat: A day after the tragic explosion at Ankleshwar's Detox India Pvt Ltd (operated by Veolia ) unit that killed four workers, the Director Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) office served a closure notice. The officials visited the unit on Wednesday morning and found multiple violations regarding the safety of the workers. Meanwhile, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) officials also prepared a report for the Gandhinagar headquarters as the company can be fined after the incident.

Jagruti Patel, a DISH official, told TOI: "We have served a closure order under The Factories Act. We have asked them to follow the safety norms required by the law. Until they comply with these norms, they will not be able to start the unit.



We will also launch a detailed investigation into violations by the company under The Factories Act and The Gujarat Factories Rules and take punitive action against the company if it is found guilty. As of now, we have issued a closure order for production." On Tuesday, four workers, Mukesh Singh, Harinath Yadav, Polesh Ram, and Ashok, were killed in a blast while they were working atop a feed tank at the Detox India unit in Ankleshwar GIDC.
