
Southern California is experiencing a short, record-breaking heat wave. The good news — the heat hits its peak today, with cooler weather in store for the rest of the week. Coastal areas can expect slightly cooler temperatures today, but valleys, deserts and mountain communities will experience another warm to hot day.
The deserts will see the highest temperatures today. The Antelope Valley will see highs from 82 to 90 degrees; meanwhile the Coachella Valley will see temperatures from 94 to 99 degrees. Patchy fog will cover the coast this morning, followed by partly cloudy skies.
Along L.A. County beaches, daytime highs will range from 62 to 72 degrees, while Orange County beaches will see high temperatures around 68 degrees.
Inland, expect highs up to 83 degrees. For L.A.
County valleys, temperatures will range from 82 to 89 degrees, with warmer temperatures more concentrated in the western San Fernando Valley. Over in the Inland Empire, expect daytime highs from 84 to 91 degrees. A mostly sunny day is on tap for these areas.
