Denver residents faced a blustery day with a mix of clouds and chilling winds, as temperatures hovered around 26°F early in the morning. The National Weather Service reported a humidity level of 78% and north winds moving at 16 mph. The chance for snow remained low at 20 percent after 2 pm, however, gusts were expected to hit as high as 28 mph.
As the day progresses, forecasters predict the winds to maintain a brisk pace, with a high near 43 degrees. This evening, the sky is expected to clear with temperatures taking a dip to around 25°F. Residents can anticipate the wind to shift from northwest to south-southwest, again showing potential for strong gusts reaching up to 24 mph.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, the weather seems to be warming up. Thursday promises mostly sunny skies with a high nearing 58°F, followed by similar conditions on Friday. The weekend introduces a slight chance of rain, particularly by Saturday afternoon, yet temperatures are projected to climb, reaching up to 64 degrees.
The National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook cautions that strong north winds will continue, especially in plains areas. There were previous concerns for snow east of Akron and Limon ending this morning, although the remaining snow could still be dispersed by the persistent winds. According to the National Weather Service, travel conditions should improve throughout the day as "winds will start to diminish during the afternoon.
"In addition to wind concerns, the latter part of the week could bring "elevated to critical fire weather conditions," especially in the plains and urban corridor, as well as potentially in Park County. The mountains, however, are expected to experience a modest amount of snow, resulting in mostly minor travel impacts..
