Denver forecast predicts a weather roller coaster with possible hazardous conditions, including snow and gusty winds.

Denver residents may be looking towards a bit of a weather roller coaster this week, with the National Weather Service providing a heads up about potential hazardous conditions on the horizon. According to the National Weather Service, the city is currently sitting under mostly cloudy skies with temperatures hovering at 33°F, which feels more like 23°F with wind chill. With the humidity at 55% and winds gusting as high as 24 mph, folks might want to hold onto their hats.

Looking ahead, the forecast suggests that Denver will see a slight chance of snow showers later in the day, on the tail end of mostly sunny conditions and a high potentially reaching 52. By tonight, a similar slight chance of snow showers persists before a change rolls in on Thursday, inviting snow before 3 pm, then a mix of rain and snow continuing into the night. The commute tomorrow might get tricky with gusty winds and a high near 40 degrees.

Moving into Friday and the weekend, the chance of precipitation ramps up significantly with an 80% likelihood of snow before noon, then rain mixed with snow, as reported by the National Weather Service. As conditions worsen Friday night into Saturday, the mixture changes to all snow after 9 pm with a 90% chance of precipitation. With snow likely to accumulate, residents in the Front Range Mountains and foothills, as well as over the Palmer Divide, might face travel disruptions, especially along and south of Interstate 70.

The hazardous weather outlook released by the National Weather Service indicates that the mountains will have scattered light snow showers today, some higher locations will receive another inch or two of accumulation, and alerts to windy conditions over the northeast plains, where gusts may reach up to 40 mph. Although no spotter activation is required for today and tonight, the outlook advises to keep an eye out because the impending mix of rain and snow expected for the weekend and the snowier predictions for lower elevations, could offer more than just a dusting, potentially impacting travel and daily life for those in Denver and surrounding counties..
