Corey Denny has been promoted to Battalion Chief of the Moncks Corner Fire Department. Denny has been a Moncks Corner Fire Department member for the past 20 years. Before his fire service career, he graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School and served with the Minnesota Army National Guard.

His tenure with MCFD began as a volunteer in 2004. Shortly thereafter, he began working full-time and has worked his way up through the ranks, first as a firefighter, then as an engineer and more recently as a captain. Denny became a nationally certified EMT in 2010.

Through the years, he has taken numerous classes to become a better firefighter, including preparing himself for this leadership opportunity by completing the Fire Officer III curriculum. He assisted in developing the Community Risk Reduction program, is chair of the town’s safety committee, assists the fire chief with the risk management program and serves as the IT liaison for fire department projects. As a battalion chief, Denny will take on greater responsibilities, including assisting the fire chief with daily operations, mentoring company officers and ensuring the highest emergency response standards.
