Kyle Larson mocked Denny Hamlin after being shown respect, and now the veteran has hit back following their double three-peat attempt at Bristol.

Denny Hamlin has hit back at Kyle Larson , who celebrated ending his three-peat attempt and claimed that no one enjoys seeing him win in NASCAR . Hamlin initially showed complete class to Larson when finishing behind him in Sunday's Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway , but the feud has now escalated. Hamlin began his winning streak at Martinsville , and was ironically handed victory at Darlington after Larson crashed in the latter stages of the race .

Hamlin was unable to secure three wins in a row at Bristol, as Larson capped off a busy weekend with a win after attempting to win all three races. Larson finished second in Friday's Craftsman Truck Series race, which ended up costing him NASCAR history , as he won in the Xfinity Series and Cup Series. Larson poked fun at Hamlin after the race, and the NASCAR veteran hit back on his ' Actions Detrimental ' podcast.

"I'm glad Chandler Smith beat you in the Truck race..

. it's all good." Larson led for 411 laps during Sunday's Cup Series race and cruised to the finish line, but rather than celebrate the achievement he couldn't help but mock Hamlin.

"Just a flawless race once again here at Bristol for the 5 team," Larson said. "Really, really good car. Sign up to our NASCAR newsletter here.

"That was a lot of fun, you know? However many laps of green we ran there was a lot of fun and I was pretty comfortable with things. Then, Denny came on really strong there before the pit cycle. Then it just kind of kept the pressure on from there.

So, I knew I had to make some good moves in traffic. "You know, if Denny's in front of me, it could be a totally different story and be really hard to pass him. Glad to stop his three-peat; we hate to see him win.

As I'm sure you guys do too. It’s great to be back in Victory Lane." Before mocking Hamlin, Larson also paid tribute to the loss of the team’s director of racing communications, Jon Edwards, who passed away days before the race.

Reporter Al Pearce and team owner Shigeaki Hattori also passed away, marking a sad week for NASCAR. Hamlin also paid tribute and was extremely complimentary of Larson after the race before later hearing of his negative comments, crediting him and his team for a stunning effort which kept him out of the equation. Hamlin told FOX NASCAR: "You got to give that team their due and Kyle his due.

Just a dominant performance. "It looked like a pretty flawless day for him. It looked pretty easy.

It was all I had to try to keep up there. Glad we were able to give him a little bit of a run with our Progressive Toyota. "You know, this weekend we’re all thinking about Jon Edwards, his family, Al Pearce, Shige Hattori.

We’ve lost a lot of great people in our sport this last week, so our thoughts are with them. I wish we could’ve got one more spot but I just wanted to keep him honest there at the end. That’s all I tried to do, but he was just too much to handle.
