Sunday crash on LA 1064 at Addison Road in Tickfaw claimed the life of 31-year-old Brandon Scott McAlister, State Police said. The preliminary investigation indicated McAlister was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound in the eastbound lane on LA 1064 and was followed by a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle also traveling westbound in the eastbound lane. At the same time, a 2005 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound in the westbound lane on LA 1064 toward Addison Road.
Before reaching the intersection, the Corolla began to slow down and turn left. McAlister struck the rear of the Corolla and was ejected from the motorcycle. Although McAlister was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, he sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle was also wearing a DOT-approved helmet and sustained moderate injuries, being transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Corolla was properly restrained, uninjured, and provided a breath sample. Routine toxicology tests are being conducted on the drivers of both Harley-Davidson motorcycles as part of the ongoing investigation.
