BOTOX jabs are becoming increasingly popular — to beat body odour, an expert claims. The injections, used to smooth out wrinkles, can also block electrical signals from reaching sweat glands , keeping skin dry in the heat. Dr Ed Robinson, who runs aesthetics clinics in Cheshire and London, says demand for this treatment has doubled in a year.

He said: “Awareness about Botox as a treatment for sweating is growing fast. “Sweating can be quite debilitating. Most of my patients have hyperhidrosis, which is excessive sweating, and there is a spectrum of how bad that can be.

“But there is also an uptick in people who just want to sweat less and who are self-conscious about patches on their shirts.” READ MORE HEALTH NEWS Dr Robinson said roughly 70 per cent of the people having the jabs were men. Awareness of its potential as a long-term antiperspirant is likely to increase due to social media and endorsement by celebrities, such as American model Chrissy Teigen .

It can be injected into the armpits, face, hands and other body parts to keep them dry. Dr Robinson said: “I’ve even seen an increase in demand for sweating treatment in the groin.” Most read in Health The procedure, which costs about £500, takes about half an hour and lasts for six months.
