Pune: A delivery person (21) was arrested on the charge of touching a 13-year-old girl inappropriately around noon on Thursday at her house in Khandvenagar after seeking a glass of water. Senior inspector Pandit Rejitwad of the Wagholi police said the girl's mother, a domestic help, called the girl from her workplace on Friday and told her that she was expecting a parcel to be delivered at home. She asked her daughter, a Standard V student, to collect it and give Rs100 to the delivery person.
The delivery person reached their house after some time, handed over the parcel to the girl and collected the money. Then he sought a glass of water. Rejitwad said when the girl was going to bring water, the delivery person touched her inappropriately.
He ran away after she raised an alarm. The girl later called her mother and narrated the incident, following which a complaint was registered with the police. An FIR under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered.
