'Delicious' slow cooker sticky toffee pudding with 5 minutes effort

Nathan Anthony, the brains behind the ingenious Bored of Lunch, is disseminating his slow cooker wizardry amidst the nippy weather, proving sweets are not just stovetop wonders but can be concocted in this energy-conserving gadget too.

In a TikTok video from last year, Nathan unleashed a British favourite: sticky toffee pudding, all crafted in the humble slow cooker, reports Daily Record. Time-starved sweet tooths rejoice; his method is a snap—assemble ingredients in the cooker and let it work its magic. A proud Nathan noted a trifling five-minute "hands on" time.



He posted: "Slowcooker Sticky Toffee Pudding. Pudding in a slowcooker? The most delicious, moist sponge made with 5 minutes hands on time." The video became a sensation, amassing a whopping 689,900 views, alongside 17,000 likes and 97 comments.

Slow cooker sticky toffee pudding Sponge 200g pitted dates steeped in 150ml of boiling water 100g unsalted butter 3 tbsp treacle 200g self raising flour 170g dark muscovado sugar 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla (optional) Sticky Toffee Sauce 100g dark muscovado sugar 100g butter 170ml double cream Steep the dates in the boiling water for 30 minutes. Once the time is up, mash the dates with a fork. Add the dates to a bowl, before adding in the remaining sponge ingredients.

Add to a greased slow cooker and cook on high for two to two and a half hours. Or if you want to cook on a low temperature, cook for five hours. Once the pudding is nearly done, it’s time to make the toffee sauce.

To make, add all of the ingredients into a saucepan at low heat and cook for two minutes until thickened. Once the done, drizzle over the sponge keeping some for the bowls. Serve and enjoy!.
