Delhi and NCR face cold weather with cloudy skies and light rain. IMD forecasts drizzle tomorrow, heavier rain Friday. Minimum temperature is 9 degrees Celsius.
AQI stands at 333, "very poor." GRAP-4 restrictions lifted; other measures persist. New Delhi: The entire National Capital Region (NCR) including Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad is witnessing cold temperatures, cloudy skies, and light rains.
However, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no prediction of rains in the capital city today. Still, the weekly weather report anticipates chances of drizzle tomorrow which is expected to intensify further on Friday. Additionally, on the temperature front, IMD has predicted the minimum temperature to touch the 9 degrees Celsius mark today, with the maximum range hovering around 22 degrees Celsius during the day.
It is also worth mentioning that along with shivering cold weather and rain like conditions, the NCR region is currently witnessing ‘very poor’ Air Quality Index (AQI), with Delhi registering a mere 333 AQI as per the data procured by Central Government’s Sameer App. Notably, the neighboring cities of Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad with slightly better readings are also not far behind with air quality clocked at 223, 232, 226, 249 and 226. IMD’s weekly weather forecast for Delhi Area-wise AQI in Delhi today GRAP-IV revoked in Delhi, some restrictions still in place Delhi and its neighboring regions received some welcome relief as the strictest anti-pollution measure, GRAP-4, was officially lifted.
The move comes after a noticeable improvement in air quality, with the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) highlighting a “continuous improvement” in the Air Quality Index (AQI). As of 5 PM, Delhi’s AQI registered at 364, categorised as “very poor” but still significantly below the threshold that necessitates GRAP-4 restrictions. This 36-point improvement in AQI was deemed sufficient for authorities to ease the harshest measures.
However, officials have stressed that not all curbs are off. Pollution control measures under Stages 1, 2, and 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) will remain in place to guard against any reversal in air quality progress. “All agencies across the National Capital Region (NCR) must continue implementing, monitoring, and reviewing actions under Stages I, II, and III to ensure AQI levels don’t deteriorate further,” stated the CAQM in its latest directive.
