Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has courted no shortage of criticism during his two-year tenure at the school. As the team continues to close in on a potential trip to the Big 12 Championship Game, Coach Prime had a plea for people continuing to root against his players. Appearing on the Colorado Football Coaches Show, Sanders rhetorically asked why his son and starting quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, doesn't receive more recognition for his play on the field.
When it was suggested that jealousy was a big reason, Sanders said that jealousy has been an issue for a while now. He made a plea to people rooting against the program to look past their disdain for him in order to give his players the recognition they deserve. “They gotta disallow their disdain for me and do not punish the kids for that.
Allow them to receive their fruits of their labor. I mean, it’s just only right. It’s not right for what they do — because that’s why I wanted to make a point: Last week, (Shedeur) was 25-for-30, something like that.
I think that was sharper than (this) week, right?” Sanders said, via On3 Sports . Can we be totally honest without being offensive? Can we be real without worrying about how you're gonna handle the Truth? Can we be us without the concern of your acceptance? Bottom line others ain't gonna ever be totally happy with you period therefore do YOU! #CoachPrime Shedeur Sanders has been phenomenal for the Buffaloes this season and currently leads the Big 12 Conference in completion percentage and passing touchdowns. He has completed 72.
9-percent of his passes for 2,882 yards and 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions The team is on the cusp of reaching a conference title game for the first time since 2016. But Coach Prime has stated in the past that he expects that his best players - Shedeur and versatile wideout/cornerback Travis Hunter - won't win the prestigious Heisman Trophy because he's their head coach. Hunter in particular could win the award as he ranks among the league's best coverage cornerbacks and one of its most explosive receivers.

We'll just have to wait and see. Related: Travis Hunter Thinks 'Hate' Against Deion Sanders Will Cost Him The Heisman.
