The San Francisco 49ers suffered several injuries in their Week 8 win over the Dallas Cowboys. However, a day later, they got predominantly good news about the players hurt in their primetime win. San Francisco saw Deebo Samuel leave the game in the fourth quarter with a rib injury, while running back Jordan Mason aggravated his sprained AC joint in his left shoulder that he originally suffered in Week 6.

Linebacker Dee Winters sustained a concussion while rookie cornerback Renardo Green hurt his ankle. None of the injuries are long-term. Green is considered day-to-day while Winters will enter the concussion protocol.

Veteran wideout Chris Conley, meanwhile, is now week-to-week with a hamstring injury, indicating he may struggle to recover in time for the Week 10 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The biggest unknowns, however, surround Samuel and Mason, who will each be reevaluated after the bye, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. With Christian McCaffrey looking poised to finally return from Achilles tendinitis in Week 10 and rookie Isaac Guerendo impressing on Monday Night Football, there may not be as much internal concern surrounding the injury to Mason.

But the 49ers will be very hopeful that Samuel will be able to get back to health in time for the road trip to Tampa, having also sustained an oblique strain on top of his rib injury. Though Shanahan expects Jauan Jennings to make his return against Tampa Bay having missed the last two games with a hip injury, not having Samuel would still be significant given his outsized importance to the offense. Samuel spent two nights in hospital last week with pneumonia and has also been dealing with a wrist issue.

In short, Samuel faces the challenge of having to overcome several injuries in the two weeks before the 49ers make the journey to face the Buccaneers, making it a very important bye week for one of the most versatile and dynamic playmakers in the NFL. Even with the bye week to rest, it may be a challenge for Samuel to shake off his injuries. However, after needing under a week to return to the field following pneumonia, it is task to which he should be able to rise.
