KOCHI: The husband of the woman who filed a harassment complaint against former Kerala High Court Pleader P G Manu, who was found dead, has been taken into custody. The Kollam West police arrested the accused, who was hiding in Ernakulam Piravom. The police suspect that Manu committed suicide following his constant provocation.
The police said that he was the one who recorded the video of Manu that was circulating on social media. Manu was an accused in the case of abusing a survivor who came to him seeking legal help in 2023. While he was on bail with strict conditions, allegations of another sexual harassment were levelled against Manu.
A video had circulated on social media showing Manu apologizing to the woman's family. The video had been examined in detail by the Kollam West police. Lawyer B A Alur, his colleague said that Manu had been suffering severe mental stress before his death.
Manu was mentally disturbed after the footage of him apologizing to the woman's family at her house in the rape case, was released. Manu was afraid that he would have to go to jail again because of this. Aloor told media that legal action will be taken against those filming the act and circulating it and that he will provide all possible support to Manu's family.
