Ben Miller has spilled all on his latest project for the BBC after his success with Death In Paradise. Ben, who played DI Richard Poole in Death In Paradise, is starring in a new comedy series titled Austin. The BBC has snapped up an eight-part comedy featuring a stellar cast including Ben Miller, Sally Phillips, and Michael Theo.

Ben, who also stars in the likes of Professor T and Suspect - as well as being known for Armstrong and Miller - is set to charm audiences once again. Austin tells the tale of Julian Hartswood, a beloved children's author played by Ben, whose social media mishap threatens to topple both his and his illustrator wife Ingrid's (Sally Phillips) careers. Just when things seem dire, her neurodivergent son Austin, portrayed by Michael Theo, whom Julian never knew about, makes an unexpected entrance.

This twist could offer Julian a shot at redemption from public disgrace, but he'll have to win over both Austin, who's no easy feat, and earn Ingrid's forgiveness. Will he succeed - or can his career ever be saved? In a chat on The Chris McCausland Show, Ben revealed more. He shared: "I play a children's author - I'm part of a team with Sally Phillips, who plays my wife.

She illustrates and I write a series of books called Big Bear. We're about to depart to Australia on a book tour. I tweet something before we take off and by the time we land, I've been cancelled.

" The series, a creation between Northern Pictures and Lincoln Pictures, has been snapped up by BBC iPlayer and for television broadcast through ITV Studios. It features Gia Carides and Roy Billing and marks Michael Theo's acting debut after his successful docuseries Love on the Spectrum, reports Wales Online . Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, hailed the series as "irresistibly charming, humorous and heart-warming, BBC viewers are sure to find Austin a sheer delight from start to finish".

Catherine Nebauer, Head of Scripted at Northern Pictures, added: "BBC is the perfect platform for Austin and we have no doubts its viewers will appreciate the clever blend of British and Australian humour. With a stellar cast and production team, Austin has already proven to be a hit on ABC with local audiences and we can't wait to share it with the world ." Ben Miller, who won hearts as DI Richard Poole on Death In Paradise, has since passed the baton to three successors: Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, Ardal O'Hanlon playing DI Jack Mooney, and Ralf Little as the current DI Neville Parker.

EastEnders star Don Gilet is set to take on the detective role next for a new series, which is expected to air early next year..
